Basics of Advertising on X

In order to run political ads on X, the following must be done -

You must have a verified account. This means obtaining the blue checkmark.

You must submit documentation for political verification. This includes an ID, EIN, or FEC ID.

You must then agree to X’s political advertising policies.

After verification is complete, you’re ready to run ads.

Targeting parameters are limited for political campaigns, but you may target the following -

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Interests and Keywords
  • Custom Audiences
  • Lookalike of followers of certain pages

Creative options you may use include the following -

  • Image ads
  • Video ads
  • Vertical videos which are closely related to Facebook/Instagram Reels
