Domain Verification
All domains used for Conversion campaigns need to be verified. Facebook requires this for attribution on campaigns and due to updated tracking rules.
There are 3 ways to verify a domain:
(Examples)
1. For updating the DNS TXT record with your domain registrar -
Update DNS TXT record
Verify your domain by adding a new DNS TXT record to your domain.
- Go to your domain registrar, log into your account and find the DNS records section.
- Follow the instructions to add this TXT record in your DNS configuration:
facebook-domain-verification=XYZ
Note: Some domain registrars require the @ symbol in the host field.
- Use a DNS TXT lookup tool to confirm the record has been updated across your servers before clicking Verify Domain.
2. Add a meta-tag
Verify this domain by copying and pasting the provided meta-tag code into the <head> ... <head> section of your website's home page HTML code.
- Copy this meta-tag:
<meta name="facebook-domain-verification" content="XYZ”
- Paste the meta-tag into the <head> ... <head> section of the website's home page HTML source, and publish the page.
Note: Verification will fail if the meta-tag code is outside of the <head> section or in a section loaded dynamically by JavaScript.
- After you’ve published the home page, confirm that the meta-tag is visible by visiting http://parablestrategies.com/ and viewing the HTML source.
3. For uploading an HTML file to your root directory -
Upload HTML file
Verify your domain by uploading a file with your unique HTML verification code to the root directory of your website.
Note: You’ll need admin access to the root directory to complete this action.
- Download the HTML verification file. Do not modify this file once you’ve downloaded it.
- Upload the file to the root directory of this domain: http://parablestrategies.com/
- Your HTML verification file is successfully uploaded if you can see the verification code on your website: http://parablestrategies.com/ XYZ.html
GTM
Pixels - Site? Action? Is there a GTM already on the site the client will provide access to? We will need a GTM request to create one if not. That GTM will contain Analytics, Facebook Pixels, and other pixels if necessary. GTM Head and Body tags need to be installed on all pages of the site.
If this is a Shopify site, inside of your Theme, the theme will need to be edited. Admin Home Page > Online Store > Themes > Three Dots > Edit Code. Edit theme.liquid head and body tags.
For Shopify sites - in order to install GTM:
